View Full Version : Remote software for server without monitor, keyboard, etc.
I am wondering if anyone knows of software that I can use to see whats on a computer that doesn't have the stuff to interact with it. This is for a server purpose and I would prefer not unhooking, hooking, unhooking, and hooking back everything, and maybe again some times. I know Tech TV's The ScreenSavers told of some free program but I can't find it on their site.
Basically remote control software.

They probably mentioned VNC. It works with most operating systems.
I think www.realvnc.com is the homepage... if not, google it.
If you have any of the Windows Server operating systems, they include terminal services for remote desktop. Windows XP includes remote desktop.
It looks like it might work, thanks!
Not testing yet cause 2nd computer shutdown to take apart. ;) ;)

if your running a win2k/win2k3 server, enable Terminal services (admin mode).
or you can always use www.dameware.com.
realvnc is good too and its free!

You could always use a trojan.
Really. MiniMo has a visibility mode for non-malicious purposes.

I'd recommend UltraVnc. I was using tightVNC for a while but UltraVNC is so much better. Faster better screen refresh cuz of video hooks. Plus you can transfer files through it and cut and paste text. It's the best VNC program I've seen yet.
I also use it on my servers as I don't have anything hooked up to them other then a keyboard.
