View Full Version : socket 939 mobo?
Newegg has the athlon64 socket 939s. :jelly:
Are there any mobos out there? what am I missing?
This will answer ur question i hope http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20040601/index.html
yeah, they just came out. monarch computer dot com has one of the 939 mobo's for pre-order, i think its the Asus A8V Deluxe K8T890. anyway, they also have the procs, but i would prolly just order those from newegg. good luck, i am planning on building a 939 system sometime this summer, and i cant wait :D
Yea, I have the mula just burning a hole in my pocket. I'm trying to wait, but it ain't easy!!!!
But of course I am not so sure I want to spend that kind of cash when a not so fast kind of system will do. :loco:

Citrix, what do you like about the optrons?

dual channel goodness and a very powerfull cpu.
a combo setup with an opteron 144-146 can compete vs a 3ghz+ intel pc.
i was cracking 20k+ 3dmarks01 with my 1.8ghz Opteron+9700Pro.

not to mention opterons are cooler
not to mention opterons are cooler
How do they compare w/ the reg 64s though? I guess what I'm gettin at is why are they offering both? I thought the opterons were geared for servers.

Even if the S939 FX is expensive, i actually think it's a good investment. It will take close to 6 months for the prices of the FX series to go down, and the loss will be at a minimum if you sell it in 6 months. How long have the other S940 FX been out? 5 months? It still retail for the same price. At least close to that. I would NOT get a S939 A64 since the multis are locked and the cache are crippled. The FX is compareable to an Engineering Sample of the Intel cpus and you all know what those goes for on egay. That's why i'm building up a pile of BH5 sticks.

im gonna say opteron again.
opterons are basicly underclocked FX's.
dual channel memory makes a huge diff in gaming perf.

I like the 3200+ no need for registerd ram and they are cheaper. Citrix and his FX and 9800XT only get 2k more than me in 3dmark and mine is around 500 less in price I mean 21k in 3dmark for me is great. Id say get the 3200 get a WC kit and ur set

I'm talking about the NEW FX cpu's here. The ones that doesn't need registered ram. The normal A64 will not hold it's price for very long at all and i actually see those as a bad investement. If you can afford a new FX 53 socket 939, buy that one.
Gnome, Citrix FX rig is capable of 28K 3dmark, don't forget that.

yes gnome, i will prove that to u soon, gonna prepare a fresh drive just for benching.
i will show uu!!!!!!!
Okey doky, I was PUMPED at the new MSI K8N Neo Platinum and the 3200+, but Since I am absolutly ANAL about choosing my hardware, I will wait till some 939 mobos show up to make the mix thicker!
Now I am not looking for the best of the best, just gotta hit the sweet spot or I'll be PO at myself for not waiting!!
*Zuntar ponders......will msi come up with a Neo Platinum for 939's.......soon?
