I need some examples of online places to buy a VCR.

I want to buy an 8 head/VERY HIGH QUALITY VCR and they are incredibly hard to find. Apparently the USA mostly just sold 4 heads, and now even those you can't buy in stores if you want a good 4 head one.

HIGH HIGH QUALITY NEEDED, so any help appreciated. The only thing I don't need is a high definition vcr that would cost $500+ dollars!

I want the best possible picture quality, especially in recording.

Basically I see these possiblilitis, VERY CONFUSING AND TIME CONSUMING TO SORT THROUGH!

said to be 4 head: 2 video heads, 2 audio heads
said to be 4 head: 4 video heads, 2 audio heads
said to be 4 head w/ 19 micron: 2 video head, 2 additional video head, 2 audio head
said to be 4 head w/19 micron: 4 video head, 2 audio
said to be 4 head w/19 micron: 4 video, plus 2 extra video, plus 2 audio heads
said to be 6 head: 6 video head, 2 audio head
said to be 6 head: 4 video head, 2 audio head
said to be 8 head: 4 video head, 2 audio head, 2 flying erase heads
said to be 8 head: 6 video head, 2 audio head
said to be 8 head: 8 video head, 2 audio head

----NOTE---- flying erase heads don't make picture quality, it is a feature many vcrs have, but some advertise it into there head count. For example: a "4 head" vcr may actually have 4 video heads, 2 audio heads, and 1 flying erase head, but is still marked as either 4 or 6, it varies.

----NOTE---- there are always 2 audio heads, some are listed into the head count, but some just say the amount of video heads, usually it is not spedified which the manufacturer chose.

----NOTE---- I don't know exactly this 19 micron deal, is it based as all the heads, or extra heads, or what, and is this just a marketing scam?

----NOTE---- The possible combinations I listed above do not represent all possible, just my quick list I cam up with

As you can tell this is very confusing and really makes me irratated!!!! IT IS NOT EASY to sort through and find

Oh, and I MUST HAVE AUTO HEAD CLEANER, all vcrs I have seen without it record and play like crap even with head cleaning tapes used, and auto head cleaner makes the vcr perferct forever so far, not 1 minor problem ever!

So I am looking for a vcr with Auto head cleaner, SVHS (super, not just regulare), and atleast 6 video heads (although if 8 exist than that is preferred). I think a flying erase head would be nice, but I am mainly focused on the recording quality.

I know 8 head vcrs exist, whether they say 8 head or are actuall 8 video head I don't know, but my school had a couple when I helped with the morining announcements ediiting, and actually, now that I think of it, they used a camera with a vhs tape and it had better quality then I have ever seen out of a vhs, so something (probably the vcr) made it better.

do you know of any good sites then? Either informative sites or buying sites are great.

Don't know if their good sites or not to buy from, you'll have to read the customer reports or the store policies, but here's a couple of links- 8 head vcr- http://www.1-877camcorder.com/video-vcrs-digital.html. Here's a 6 head vcr-- http://www.pricerefresh.com/best/price/OpID_mpbr/mTRN_TRN20010116164117947248395/sfx_9872/compare_prices.htm.
I believe, with the later technology- digital etc. on vcr's they don't need 8 heads, thus 4 heads do as good a job. There's almost no 8 head vcr's out there, and only a few 6 head vcrs that I've found. Also here's a site that explains how vcr's work and why. http://www.ee.washington.edu/conselec/CE/kuhn/vcr/vcr.htm Hope this helps.
