I like it, and they make quite good movies. But being obsessed with it is pathetic. People do that because they seem to be sad because they have no friends, and they need to overcompensate with a ficticious existance where everybody is overly sexy and people are WAY too damn serious.

Again, good stuff. But don't hammer it's square being through your round mentality.

*NOTE* - Versy, this wasn't aimed toward you at all, but this topic often pisses me off, since there are so many lifeless bags of organs out there. :bringit:

For starters, maybe watching movies would be better... I'd reccomend Ghost In The Shell, Akira or Wonderful Days (one of my tops).

For series: Great Teacher Onizuka (this is teh funniest shit you'll evar see) or Cowboy Bebop (apocolyptic futuristicish)

I've been subjected to some of it and for the most part I can't stand it. That being said there are some real good anime movies out there that even my wife liked.

Out of yer list I've seen Chobits, May, Bebop, GTO, Lain, Naruto (only teh first 30 or so episodes... got tired of how it takes like, 10 episodes just for one fight) and Hellsing.

ok, i have a little bit of a problem with anime. there are just so many movies that people think are so freakin awesome . . . and they just kinda arent. lets take akira for instance, that movie is so overrated. and i know a lot of anime folks think that its overrated, so its no surprise, its just the first one people think (ppl that arent into teh anime) of when they think "anime". so i guess thats my main problem with it, there seems to be so much shit out there.

now, onto what i REALLY want to talk about. there IS some anime out there that is really damn good.

some of my favorites:

ninja scroll
ghost in the shell
evangelion (a series, i loved the whole thing, but i was a bit younger when i saw it)
spirited away
Princess Mononoke

and i dont guess the animatrix counts, but i mainly just liked the way it was done. and yeah, thats all i have to say about anime . . .

I don't think Akira is awesome and yeah, it is overrated. However, I think it was one of the first to really go mainstream in America, so everyone should see it :D

Ninja Scroll is badass. I never liked Evangelion tho... I personally think that's way too overrated.

yeah, ninja scroll was totally awesome. and its been probably, damn, well maybe like 6 or so years since i saw evangelion, so its hard for me to say. thats one of the things i have been doing lately is trying to re-evaluate movies i thought were awesome and ones that sucked. actually, a funny thing happened last night. i saw the bourne identity in theatres, and i hated it. both me and my gf did. but we watched it again last night, and we couldnt find anything that we didnt like about it. it was weird . . . and a little creepy . . . and also a little off topic . . .

I agree akira is overated. Hell I haven't actually managed to stay awake through a viewing of it yet.

Yes, GITS and Ninja Scroll are badass. Akira wouldve been really, really good. If I could understand all of it. I also liked princess mononoke.

Hentai is awesome too. Okegenzi(sp) Clinic, Immortal sisters, and the Elven Bride, among others, are good. Good stuff.

Ive seen all of those, i hated the way evangelion ended, damn, that pissed me off...

Ghost in the shell was cool, i didnt like it that they turned into a tv series tho.

I love Akira, one of my favorite films ever, animated or otherwise.

I do not get into animie at all and do not intend to. It is just not interesting to me, silly cartoons like anime just don't seem to be that good. I know many like it, but I would have to agree with Oudiophile that some are obsessed with it because they have virtually no friends. I am only saying this because I know people at school who are like that, funny thing is that there actually is an anime club at school! Do not take this in an offensive way as it is not meant to be.

No I agree 100%. There is nothing wrong with anime just like there is nothing wrong with any other form of movie. However there is something very strange and bizzare about the Anime Fanatic. I have a friend who is such a phreak and there are times when I just want to put him in a bag with some rocks and throw him into the river.

Out of the being a friend duty I went to an anime convention and I couldn't handle it just way to much geekiness going on there to handle. It's fricken scary, it's the movies, the cards, the comics, the action figures, the figurines, the plush dolls, the boot leg cd's of sailermoon having sex with other anime characters. It's just well insane. They are fanatics far more so then any comic books or gaming convention I've ever been at.

I'm quite happy to say I've only heard or seen about 4 of those.

I'll also go back to an orignal statement and say (after watching it again) that Wonderfull Days is the best looking Anime to date.
