I just bought a 9800SE and want to overclock it to a 9800(Pro). I know how to do it using software, so that's not a problem. But cooling is. I was either thinking of getting a Thermaltake Red Giant 3, expensive, but I hear it works. Or the Atrtic cooling VGA Silencer. I was told the silencer was better becuase it blows the hot air right out of your computer, thus lowering the temp overall. Only problem with that is there is nothing in the back of the card, so I was advised to get ram sinks. Now my question is, what is your opinion on this, should I get the red giant 3 or the vga silencer? (price isn't an issue, with the RAM sinks, the vga silencer and the red giant 3 cost about the same). Thanks for any info.

the VGA silencer is a great solution, you can also look at the zalman products.

before you start OCing that card, what i would recommend is to try to convert it into a 9800PRO card.

install the latest Omega drivers here --> http://www.newgenerationorder.org/rad_w2kxp_omega_2558_7z.exe

it will give you the option to convert to 9800PRO.

good luck hope it works out

Yeah that's what I was doing, but using other software, omega drivers come with a lot of crap I don't need. I found another great solution to softmoding, it only comes with the one file, and has an auto-backup just incase you fail. And yes, I was looking at zalman, but from what I've heard, TT takes Zalman products and makes them better.

IMO both of them look pretty cool.
How much do you care about sound levels of the fans? The thermaltake is going to be louder. Do you have room in your case for the thermaltake?

Sound isn't really a concern at the moment. My computer is already pretty load so I can handle most loud fans, but too load (like the blower on the TT) is not good. And I think I have enough room (pretty sure)
