Re-use of windows xp

Can I re-use my Windows XP cd on my upgraded computer?

I am still useing the same power supply, case, dvd-rom, dvd-rw,ls-120, and one of the hard drives.

I am replacing the motherboard, processor, ram, 2 hard drives and a video card.

Where can I find more info on this?

do you mean still using the same xp install from before you upgraded. i haven't ever tried replacing the mobo but as long as you haven't replace the hd with the install on it, it should work, good luck!

Well, from experience it's best to re-install in order to prevent any "dll hell" when it tries to replace all the drivers. But it *might* work. I have done this at least two times, one time from KT400 -> NF2 chipset mobo upgrade and that worked but I reinstalled in order to be safe / have more performance. While when I did a KT133A -> NF2 chipset mobo upgrade all I got was repeated BSODs never even booted so I had to reinstall that.

So you can try, but it's probably for the best to re-install.

You mean reusing the CD key and reactivating? Sure you can. Read your M$ licence.

If you do it frequently they may ask you to explain what you're up to but you're certainly permitted to install the same license on either an upgraded or replacement machine. You're NOT supposed to install on a second PC simultaneously. In practice, M$ can't tell whether you're doing that or just upgrading. Like I said, do it often and you may get a please explain before they'll activate you.
