Yeah I'm kinda leery about this one as I'm supposed to be flying to Florida for work Next Thursday (Sept 9th) and flying home on Sunday. This huricane could be the suck.

Take on the hurricane like a man! Stand outside wearing flippers, a snorkal mask and a Speedo bathing suit!

Remind me to not be any where near you during a huricane. I mean snorkle and a mask sheesh :)

Yepper, It's on it's way to us. House looks like a fortress. Steel shutters all the way around. Just a few last min things to tie down this mornin. (Fri) Got generator ready for power outage. Food, first aid kit, gas, ice all stocked up. Sorry, I haven't posted a full front page on news. Still only have wifeys pc running, what with all the hrs I'm putting in for work- 10-12 hr days, hurricane coming at us, etc. (Hawk mumbling to self--Must get pc's built). We're taking pics of everything inside and out. I'll post a few, later on. I'll keep posting through the storm, as long as we have power here.
stay safe, and good luck to you and yours.
LIN
Thnx Lin, We've battened down all the hatches and are just waiting it out now. Just finished all the outside tiedown. (All the porch & patio stuff.) Bad thing about this one is it's moving very slow--9 mi an hr. That means extreme rain and prolonged hurricane force winds all day Sat and into Sun, for our area. 30 mi per hr rain bands are shooting through today! Thats just the extreme north edge sending in rain bands.

Hawk if you need anything let me know. I just finished with pictures and Ill get some up in a bit. House it tied down and we are set.
Thnx Gnome, We're in good shape. Just waiting now.
hang tight and try and let us know how you guys are holding on there when you can.
LIN
you should make your houses out of cement, no house can beat a house made out of cement, nor hurricanes, but ofcourse the soil it is on may fall victom and you might have a new aquarium for the sharks if you are not careful on the place ment. wink wink
and yes SoAndSosName is correct, take it like a man, just like I do with lightning! No pwning me with lighting jokes will work, as I have already stated one, it is not a pwn.

You know Zecter you are an ass.
Hawk and me have both been construction builders for years Him longer than I tho. A hurricane cans take a Cement house out just as easy dip sh!t. A wood frame house actually allows flex unlike a cement house. BUT a cement house has more steal in it that a wood frame house.
BTW hawk has been in construction for say what 25 years Hawk? And i well I am 21 and as soon as i could do anything ( when i was 8 i was learning ) I was out there atleast working and learning how to do it. Now myself and hawk own our own companys
Me and hawk are probally the two most intellectual guys on this site or any other tech site when it come to structural engineering
like I said, I think I am high off Hobenero peppers.
and is that ghost busters, yes it is!
70-90 mph winds with heavy rain at times. Power went out once and came back on right away. Most area's around us are without power. Gonna be 12-16 hrs of hard storm here. Real slow moving. If you like freight trains- up close, you'd love this. Windows rattling everywhere.
Horizontal rain is strange looking.
i can't even imagine what that'd be like. hang tight.

lol its fun right now I was just outside just enough wind to almost pick my up but damn that rain stings. alreay lost a couple houses under construction but its all good
I would love to be picked up by the wind and blown somewhere, preferrably in a straight line because if its not you may be in a tornado.
Sounds like an adventure Gnome, lol. Hopefully nothing extremely bad happens hehe. Keep us tuned in all of you Florid..ians?!

Yup, Floridians.
It should be over me by tomorrow early morning. Like around 2 AM. It's going soooo slow!
We're expected to have sustained winds within the 40+ mph range within the next couple hours and gusts up to 60 mph.
Stupid hurricanes.
i feel bad for posting this BUT,
BTW, not a clowd in site, they LIE!!!

Go away... :p
Lots of wind right now. Not a whole lot of rain. It's supposed to get worse, but I think we're going to be alright. We're definitely getting it much more lightly here in Spring Hill than a lot of other places did.
I hope everyone is safe and alright.

Ok I am back 4 days no power no water no phones. Like hell. The generator helped Had tv and kept the fridge cold. but damn it was bad. 120mph gust. I got pics of damage but i couldnt get to the destroyed places cause of the national guard
Winds were clocked at 110 with gusts up to 130. Tornadoes galore! Lots of major damage. Houses, mobile homes torn open. Large massive tree's uprooted, shattered and scattered all over. Had a neighbors backporch roof ripped loose, rolled down the street, crashed into our house, flipped up on our roof 2-3 times and came to rest in the front yard. Our area (Port St. Lucie) still has over 10,000 without power as of 9/16.04. All together- Treasure coast counties still have around 70,000-80,000 thousand without power. Electrical crews are from almost every state in the US and Canada.
Thnx to our friends in Canada & US for coming to our aid.
People on the gulf coast side are being pounded by IVAN now. And it's a little stronger than Francis was. Many deaths coming from Ivan. And now we're watching Jeanne coming right up the shute for south fla. When the storms travel that route right over the islands on a WNW line, it's time for south Fla to keep a close eye on it. Don't take those shutters down!

Sorry, man. That sucks. I hope everything gets back to normal for you as soon as possible. Hopefully Jeanne will turn away too. This is the shittiest hurricane season I have ever seen. And I've lived in florida nearly all my life.
i was just watching on the TV the damage done in Pensacola. you guys are getting reamed left and right this year. stay safe, all of you.
