ALL files on a CD are read only. it is a read only device by nature!!

Once you write the files to the CD and then close it, it becomes READ-ONLY....

If you copy the files OFF the CD, they will be READ-ONLY...

You need to change them once you copy them to the hard-drive, to writable again...

I hope this helps....

No, actually you are wrong, if you copy them from the cd, you can edit them again you do not need to change them from read-only.

I may be wrong, and I will check, but EVERY time I have copied a file off of a CD it has been read-only until I modified it...

on a CDR...yes...they are Read only...However when on a CDRW they are like a floppy and they should be able to be manipulated....

So i am still in the same place....

How do i make XP stop doing this....It has to have something to do with HOME...because i run PRO at my house and no problems there....because i use CDRW all the time instead of floppies....

ANyone?

what cd writing software is it using? Check the settings in it and see if there is a flag somewhere. If it's adaptec's software I'd suggest switching to Nero.
