View Full Version : Anyone been to China?
Well... my dad is going to China for a week on business and he's gonna have almost 2 free days and he says he will bring some stuff back so I need to know wut is good to buy in China... Like everything is made ther so I know I have a wide range but does anyone know of some good stores or websites I can go to so I have a better idea of wut to tell him to buy?
I'm thinkin about gettin some nice shoes, a watch or something and if possible a GF6800 card... most likely the GT or somethin else for my comp - can't be anything like a case or anything cuz he's planning on bringing it home in a bag.
I bet when he gets there he will find tags that say "Made In Japan" or something like that. :)
...we'll see, He's going to be visiting some of the bigger cities but he's staying in a city of only about 4 million people.

If he can find a video card like that I would guess it is much cheaper than they sell it here, but would it forsure be compatible?

Yeah, if you can get a 6800 AGP version for like 50 bucks or less I'd give you 100 for it. (: :) : )

Well I don't see why they wouldn't have AGP over ther... it's kinda like a generic type thing. Just cuz it's China doesn't mean they do computer formats all different heh.. I hope.
I don't think it'll be THAT cheap tho, maybe like 100-150 is my estimate for a 6800 card... But I could be wrong haha.
I'll find out when he gets all settled in his hotel and can get on the net and talk w/ me.

why would they do it any differently? Japan is their biggest trade partner, and a lot of major motherboards are made in japan...
PS taiwan / korea are also large trading partners. We've got pretty much all the major mobo manufacturers covered here.

Sure it might be cheap from China and they might be the next big thing in terms of economics however "Quality" is not something they have been able to understand yet.
No this is not some redneck inspired post attempting to slam Chinese product I am an avid reader of Business Week, The Economist and Fortune magazine so I am an concerned and informed critic :).
Ahh... well figures - my dad's plane had troubles before it could even leave SanFran yesterday so he left early this morning... Looks like he loses a day but I'm sure he'll still have shopping time.
He'll also be heading into Taiwan... I think he's speaking with TYAN and a few other manufacturing companies about an upcoming supercomputer but I dunno any specific details hehe.
He'll still come back with something or another at least... haha
