Problem with ASUS P5GD1

Hi all! New in here, so I'll try not to post this question into an inappropriate forum... :S

So, I just bought a motherboard: ASUS P5GD1 which I think it's great...

anyway... I have a P5 @ 3.0, ati radeon X600 pro, audigy 2 zs platinum and more goodies, but those should be hits for my question... Anyway, all of saden, my computer just wouldn't open! I have two HDD full of data both of them, where in the master one I had Windows XP pro (English). After the boot sequence, and after the screen where windows loads, I get a message: "system/boot/ file loading failed. File is either corrupted or unwritable" (or something really similar to this...) :S

anyway, So as you can all understand I can no way get into windows! I can't enter windows neither safe mode, or last known configuration...

I tried to set up windows again (even though I'll kill myself if I loose any data from the current HDD, but anyway...) and I boot normally from the cd-rom with Windows 2000, and I would afterwards install Windows XP, since my WINXP cd is NOT bootable

anyway, here comes the problem with the motherboard... After the WIN2000 cd loads everything I get a message to repair or setup a new installation, and I get the message: "No HDD found installed into your system. Hit F3 to reboot!"...

I have the motherboard's cdrom if anything is needed from in there...

Can anyone please help?

I just DONT want to loose anything from the current hdd, I just want to repair this problem, or maybe install WINXP OVER the current system and keep the current data!

If this is impossible, can you please tell me how to format my HDD and re-install WINXP?

Here's a program that might help you out. testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.html) Be careful with it. I recovered a drive with it. You have to pick the version you want to use.Hope this helps.

Strange MB. I recently bought one too. I had to install windows while the drive was on the regular IDE connector(or windows wouldn't see it) with the CD-rom then move the drive to the sata/raid controller(in IDE mode) for booting.

I've had to reinstall about once a month due to data corruption. I think the newer version of the MB has a different sata/raid controller altogether.

Well there's your problem win2000. that mob runs better with winxp.

Wild guess but since SATA arrived problems arrived.
I wish i could help except to maybe put this all together with other hard drives.
Sorry but maybe SATA is only is for certain mbd's.

Win2K here too :( . I'm making sure all updates/service packs are installed along with the MB drivers before moving the drive to the ITE controller.

Before, it was hanging up during windows splash screen. I assume that's when the windows drivers were taking over.(?) Then I would get a BSOD saying drive corrupt.
