I'm working and enjoying some of the hottest weather Englands had in years, its not even rained during Wimbledon yet (I cant stand tennis btw)

I get my new internet connection on Tuesday at long last so should be back to regular posting then! I've not looked at the Babe Thread since May 12th, hope things are still looking good in there!

Yea, Lots of spammers to keep LIN busy deleting! lol
Got the 4th pc built. Now just gotta clear my entire desk in office to hold 2 pc's, monitors, keyboards, and a UPC between them. Gnome, You know what project that will be! You've seen it.
For others that don't know, It's a very small office/den that is my space/ pc area/ photo room for developing/ game room w/ full sized pinball machine, with my 14 station Joe Weider workout bench system and large office desk. Very crowded at the moment.
I did a bad thing and spent (CC) $124 at BJ's wholesale on an APC 8 plug Battery backup 100VA, (600Watt) UPC (6-batt backup, 2-surge protected) 4 transformer block spaced, for the living room pc's. Linky-- Back-UPS RS 1000VA (http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1000)
The one backing up the living room will now come into the office for the 2 pc's in here. It should all be good once I change out the Power backups though.
And, Yes, I'll take some pics of the mess when I get done. I'll have to take them at very precise angles for clean effect! lol

Good to hear you got a new ISP & welcome back. I did notice you weren't around as much. And LIN has kept the Babe Thread in good standing for you. Hehhehe

kryyst, Wish I was someplace that I could mountain bike. Not that I would anymore. Don't think the lower back would take the punishment. lol Slow cruisin would be cool though.

LIN, Yep, Busy is the word of the day. Todays the rainy day that I'm changing up all my systems power backups and organizing the pc's the best I can.

Gnome, Does that 975 come with 8 plugs? That's why I got this peticular one. If yours does, I'm going to be kickin myself! NNNooo, Don't tell me, I don't want to know! lol
But, Does it?

vers buddy! Good luck today with your interview.
What's their Ph #, I'll call em and tell em what kind of asset they're going to get for their Co. j/k friend.
Hope it all goes like clockwork for you.
And I'm sorry, No kisses from me. I'm just not that kind of guy.

Hawk
24 Jun 2005, 2:27pm
OK, I'll start kickin myself now!!!!! Didn't even think they'd have an 8 plug Gnome. I've been looking for a long time and this is the first I've seen. Then again, I don't go into Best Buy very often, unless I see a sale in the paper. What's thew best I can do on a 19' monitor there.? that 21" TTX I had couldn't take my radeon 9700, it went within 15 mins of hooking it up. Only other thing I have for the 4th pc is that original 15" (13" viewable)! that I saved from my first pc, 12 yrs ago. And the screen on that is ready to go because it's off center and can't be adjusted.

here, I got word my Asus board is shipping back. That was FAST for Asus. I am recovering from yesterday's 99 temp with my ac'd 61 temp basement. Mowing is TEH SUCk yesterday. Will be outside today more, continuing to shoot more fireworks off that *caugh* a friend brought over and left... for me *caugh*

The news just broke with the rollercoaster story, 10 days now and someone finally won the car for riding Wild Thing the longest. I might want to stop by and ride it myself...
http://www.valleyfair.com/insidethepark/rides/rollercoasters/wildthing.cfm

Maybe I'll go fishing sometime soon, yeah, that sounds good, not today.

*seriously thinking about getting a new mobo and cpu to make 3rd pc* -Must be cheap, 90 bucks for cpu is expensive, but might be the way I go because it is the mobile one. Unsure of motherboard, raid would be nice for pata drives, but unsure if worth the expense.

lol, thanks for yer kind words Hawk.

The interview went extremely well... started off slow, but once the guy's caffeine kicked in, we started to connect. I feel confident in all the responses I gave him and I nailed all the technical questions he asked. The awesome thing about this job is (other than the hot chicks I saw...hehe) that it's 3 freakin' miles from home! w00t! no more long-ass 30-minute metro commutes to Washington DC if I got this!

Good deal vers! Glad it all went well. Congrats man.
And hot chicks, 3 miles from home! Can it get any better?
Now vers, Don't get into those hot chick long lunches at home until you establish yourself with the big boss as an indispensable asset.
Then call me! Oh. No, I forgot (day dreaming of single days), I'm married.
Ahhh, Well, A guy can daydream can't he.

Well... shoot... the interviewer contacted the recruiter I'm dealing with (the job is a 6-month contract, and then a permanent staff position if the engineering firm wants to keep me), and said I was more than qualified for the position and were wondering if I would get bored (like my current job) and move on... I got the weekend to think about it. Doh.

to answer Mr. Gnomes original question......

Nothin exciting, just workin and playin dad. Work just cut out all of the overtime on certain projects, so my extra funds are nill, nada, zip!!!! I could work some OT on another project, but since I have been working at least 8 to 10 hours of OT for Years now I will just suck up and enjoy the freedom.;)
I am always thinkin of cheap easy ways I can "mod the rig" like right now I am putin a window and leds in one of my HDDs. Should be phat!!!

Told them the other day I'd take it. Think they have a couple more guys to interview.

However, I was called for two positions (both within 5 miles from home) for systems admin/network admin positions. I'm really aiming for the network admin pos tho coz it's on the waterfront, with free sodas, and seasonal baseball tickets :D

You know - there is no place you can't mountain bike, with the possible exception of deep snow covering. Everything else is fair game, even urban settings you can go mountain biking.

Mind you a bad back could be a big issue, but (and I don't know the extent of your suffering) you do have to keep it in mind and start taking it easy. Get a comfortable bike that allows you to keep upright with minimal stress on your lower back. You can get full suspension or even just suspension posts to greatly reduce sudden jarring. I wouldn't recomend going off any obstacles or anything like that but some nice trail riding may even benefit. It can in the long run help to increase your stomach muscles which in turn will help your back alot.

I believe business-style waterfront (I haven't seen it yet, although I know the area)...but hey, there's a boardwalk! Hawt chicks always walk them, don't they?

Just finished a phone interview for another sys admin position. Being the resident Mac-geek, I was able to tout off some of my knowledge (which is a plus for this position, yay!). Interview went extremely well.
