Need a "how to mod HaloPC"

I love the PC version of Halo, but I feel that some of the weapons are too powerful, like the hand-gun, and some are not powerful enough, like the machine-gun. I want to be able to modify some of the games to reflect how I feel the weapons should work. Can someone PLEASE point me to a guide to do these mods... :bowdown: :bowdown: :bowdown:
