Battlefield 2 Major Problems Need Help Urgently

when i run battlefield 2 it comes up with bf2.exe has performed and illegal operation and will now terminate
whats that all about?
My pc specs are
2.6ghz
512mb ram
g force fx 5200
120gb hdd
xp home edition
please write back asap!!!!

have you tried un-intalling and re-installing it? Also have you got all the patches for the game - and your hardware that have been released?

Also defrag the hard drive, virus scan etc..etc..etc.. these are all things that should be done anyway.

The game will barely run on those specs not saying u need a $2000 PC but get another stick of ram and put in a better vid card BF2 will in all likelihood stutter and that tends to be fatal when flying, let us know how it works out though.
