Or does this strike you as odd? (Lots links!)

My little x700 is still chugging along, but I attended a LAN party at my work (I work at a computer store), and their systems flat-out blew me away. Unreal.

Anyway, I was planning to upgrade my video card, since it is my main bottleneck. I did some research and finally settled on a Radeon X800 GT for $139. That is a downgraded X800. I don't know why, don't ask me. link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102573)

I poked around a little more to see if I was getting my money's worth, and it seemed like I was. Lo and behold though, my bottom dollar got the best of me and I ran across this: link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102496R)

A refurb X800 Pro. More pipelines, OC capabilites and clock speed. I like, and for less than $35 or so more? Wow. Before I sealed the deal, though, I wanted to see what the X800 Pro was on par with performance wise. To do this, I did a google search for "X800 pro or". link (http://www.google.com/search?hs=lNW&hl=en&lr=&client=opera&rls=en&q=%22X800+pro+or%22&btnG=Search)

Nearly everyone seems to compare it to the 6800GT, even these benchmarks do: link (http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.cfm?articleid=533)

So I checked Newegg again to see if the 6800GTs were cheaper.

HOLY SHAT. link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=Go&DEPA=0&type=&description=6800GT&Category=0&minPrice=&maxPrice=&Go.x=0&Go.y=0)

The 6800GTs start at $280 Retail! The refurbs are even $230 retail!
Meanwhile the X800s start at $189 retail and the refurbs start at $163 retail!

Crazy savings! Anyway, is there something that I am missing, or can I really get stupid-fast 6800GT-esque performance from that X800 Pro for so cheap?

EDIT: Spelling

You may get 6800GT performance in *some* games, but not all. I recall that games utilizing the Doom engine run better with Nvidia hardware than ATI. But there's nothing wrong with ATI...

I have greater preference towards Nvidia, however.
