I seem to have lost my ability to startup Internet Explorer on my laptop. It has IE 6 sp2. The only way I can getonline is to start Outlook Express up and click the hyperlink I have in an email there. And then I cannot open any additional web browsers either:bawling: .
I have done the MS update and am current there as for crital updates. In my PROGRAMS there is no listing for IE or Outlook Express, But I can start OE with the desktop icon. So I know the programs are in there someplace.
Can somone tell me the file name that starts IE? Or where I may look. When I insert my IE 6 cd, windows tells me the a more updated version is already installed and will proceed NO further.
Thank You Bruce

I had the problem resolved. I did a search and found the file used to start IE up, created a shortcut and presto. It worked. I could even open multiple browsers. That is needed when house hunting and switching back and forth.
I should have left well enought alone. I did a few MS updates, defraged then shut it down. About an hour later I fired her up and now cannot do the multiple web browser thing. I minimise the current browser, click the same icon to open another browser, it flashes very quick then nothing:bawling: I dont see the setting for "open new browser" in advanced setting of Internet properties:ogre:

With one instance of IE open, does depressing "Ctrl" + "N" keys open new browser for you?

when I shut down my popup stopper (panicware), then I can open multiple browsers. Never had this problem before OR with any one of my other pc's running same popup stopper. looking around for setting now

holding down the ctl key when clicking the IE icon resolves the problem
