I cant get this thing to work....It says the same thing on 5 different CDRW's i have tried to format:

""Format operation on driveF:\ failed: There was a communication error while sending a command to the drive."

Any thoughts?

Have you tried to burn any dvd`s or cd`s to see if it is working properly???
I have noticed that a lot of errors occur on the optical drives because of the firmware. Check if there is an update and do it. Mine used to have similar problems. After updating firmware, all got fixed.

I updated the firmware just before the post to the latest...

What do you mean burn a cd or dvd....you mean like a pic cd? I will give that a whirl...

Will running a test burn work the same...or go ahead and fry a CDR?

Well...I thought i would let you know that i got it all worked out....This mobo and Drive werent compatible...back when i first got them...since then they have come up w/ a fix....
