New folding sigs?

I think we were all missing our sigs a couple of days ago and were just showing folding_sig1 and 2 for a while. I thought about it, but knew you were in the middle of tidying up some fixes and mods. I think we all will have to live with this and maybe some other things now and then as you work on the site.

Sigs were down for about an hour after I upgraded vBulletin because my special hack in the code got overwritten. It took me a little bit to figure out what'd happened, because that was the first upgrade since I made the hack.

could someone either provide clear step by step sig instructions here or PM them to me. When I tried before, I got nothing. Used to have a sig but its gone.

As a third party looking in, I can see no folding banners etc. like I'm used too. For exmaple:

Everything else is totally blank- but there looks like plenty of room for something- but it's simply not visible.

I can also see accumlated point stars on some- but that's it.

Keebler- you may want to see it from someone else's machine.

I don't have a folding sig, and Thrax has since removed his. I recognize there's a problem with chip's sig, I just haven't had time to sort it out yet, apologies :)

The extra white space is because our postbit (avatar, etc) stretches our post vertically to fit.

I run through the sig generator and i select to save it as sig1....but then what do I do? Do I have to save it somewhere else or select something else for it to show? I used to have a sig and I think it was sig1 but I'm not sure.

I can't get the dang thing to work either...it won't even save for me. I can make the sig fine, but have no way of saving it.

:wave: I had this problem before - Keebs reminded me at the time, ' that when I log onto the forum, to make sure that I ticked the remember me box before pressing log on button' .

Once I had followed these instructions, I then made my sig and was able to save it and see it on the forum.

The database does not have a signature for you in it. Have you made a signature with the new generator and hit the "submit signature" button? :)

Same problem here (IE7). The background images doesn't seem to load (most of the time, sometimes does though), thus leaving a white background with white text on it (only the stars are visible).

If I go here for instance: http://short-media.com/leo/images/sigs/arcs_aqua.gif

I get nothing :) But after messing around a little (refresh and so on), it updates to http://icrontic.com/leo/images/sigs/arcs_aqua.gif, and the gif shows.

Maybe a dns problem? As the sig background url's still point to short-media.com...I see you use /leo/images/stars/*.gif relative url's for the star gifs (and these seems to work fine all the time for me), maybe using a relative url instead of absolute for the backgrounds also, will work better.

That could explain why sometimes I see the stars, but not the rest of the sig.

I think that was part of an understanding that some of the sigs would retain the old SM names- but yeah, there may soon be some Icrontic equivalents.

Saving to Slot 1 and using [folding_sig1] doesn't seem to output anything.

You just hit submit, then put [folding_sig1] or [folding_sig2] in your sig.

Do you have your signature turned on? Do you have the forum software set to display signatures?

I have done it both ways. Currently I am automatically logged in when i visit. I understand the signature doesnt work in preview...but it never appears when I post...check the thread...never any sig when i post.

Choose your username, then paste this directly into the "tweaks" window, "save" to slot 1, and let's see what happens.

Ok i went to sig generator...created sig...pasted your entry in the tweaking box below the code in there.

Here goes...lets see if sig appears.

You ended up with two copies in the "tweak" window. Go ahead and remake it from scratch now. If my "theory" is correct, you should be fine from now on.

I think there's an issue with the first use of Slot 1. It seems like after I start it off for someone, they don't have trouble after that. Weird bug. :-/
