View Full Version : Perpetual energy machine? Maybe?

This story piggybacks on one I heard a few years back, where an Irish scientist claimed he was onto something. He announced that, when finished, he would reveal it to the world and let any scientist who wished to play with it do so. To paraphrase, he felt as though a device and claim of such scientific magnitude and scepticism could only be validated by such a broad and thorough investigation.

Whether or not this is a continuation of the story, I cannot be certain, but it would be prodigious if true. Steorn's Orbo (http://www.steorn.com/orbo/).

So what is it? Magnetics?

I'm going to go make a site that claims I've harnessed the power of a blackhole. BRB.

I say "No" as well, but the story is too neat not to post. ;D

They were going to broadcast a demo today, but.....

Important update on the Kinetica demo:

We are experiencing some technical difficulties with the demo unit in London. Our initial assessment indicates that this is probably due to the intense heat from the camera lighting. We have commenced a technical assessment and will provide an update later today.

they have released this updated picture of the device working. Due to the removal of the lights, it may be slightly difficult to make out the exact workings. Rest assured that it is working, though.

truly remarkable. Wars will be prevented because of that machine.

I'm going to create a perpetual motion machine powered by Black_Hawk's "leftovers" after a meal.

I've got some beach front property in Eagle River for only $1500/acre. Free tiki hut for the first 10 sales. Palm trees, dolphins swimming the surf, constant 85*F temps! It's also a cure-resort. We sell only the newest, most effective natural remedies - guaranteed to reverse over 95% of all known illnesses and diseases. Oh, did I mention - all beach front lots have FREE!!! electrical power hookups, generated by Perpetual Motion Machines (manufactured by DefyPhysics of Lagos, Nigeria).

A perpetual motion machine is (Scientifically) preposterous, however the mere fact that they're willing to display it to the science community for thorough investigation lends some credit to it.

Now, if it never gets displayed, I'll laugh right along with all of you. But you all must admit that it's a bold move to show it off, eh? I'm a skeptic, not parochial.

By Scientific you mean, "Matter nor energy can be created or destroyed, merely converted" right? So I can see a perpetually self running machine that would serve 100% no purpose though... but not anytime soon.

Imagine that, will you! For some reason, the perpetual energy machine was not demonstrated. Gasp! Our initial assessment indicates that this is probably due to the intense heat from the camera lighting.Uh, say again, please? News article here (http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2193572/perpetual-motion-machine-hits).

it's not free/perpetual energy, apparently:

"time variant magneto-mechanical interactions"

so they're going to use energy from the earth's (always changing) magnetic fields to drive some moving part. Whoopdy-do.

Commence the laughing.

I admit, I don't understand the technology. If they actually demonstrate something that works and is not a gimmick of some kind, I'll be the first to salute and bow.

But this just reminds me too much of the claims for all the devices that were supposed to dramatically increase automobile gas mileage. It also reminds of the "cold fusion" scandal in Utah a few years ago. Technology that truly could have changed the world, but that for some reason, could not be reproduced under peer observation.

Where's my nuclear powered car BTW? I DEMAND A NUCLEAR POWERED CAR!!! I have an awesome bumper sticker in mind for tail gaters and *******s who drive with their high beams on.

1,000,000W LIGHTS.... ON!

I mean, this is obviously an interesting and potentially very useful source of energy. If it can be harnessed to do something useful, it will likely be a very clean source of energy. However, I doubt that it can be used to power much more than the rotation of the device (I assume something on the device rotates with "no" input power).

This is free energy in the same way that a solar panel generates free energy.

Delusional Utopians lured in by that ancient dream!??
Or clever schemers - working with Garage/Basement scientist/layman?
Or maybe the new Electric Car -conspiracy anyone????
Or a web phenomena created to capitalize on Green Energy?
Makes for good reading anyway:wink:
