View Full Version : Q6600 1066MHz FSB and DDR2 800MHz ram compatible?
I'm pretty sure not, but 2 guys were telling me I'm fine with it. It's good ram, OCZ platinum ddr2-800mhz, but I still don't think it'll work with the new quad core's.
Do I need new ram, or not?
Why do you think it will not work?

It will work perfectly fine together.
I'm just waiting for the price drop to order me a Q6600 myself.
Why do you think it will not work?
I thought it wouldn't because of the 2 different fsb speeds, 1066 and 800.

Just like DDR400 it will run, but you’re just not getting full potential... I am willing to bet you might be able to OC that memory to almosy 1066 :)
The native memory platform for the C2Q is DDR2-800. It is not a 1:1 CPU:FSB. It uses dividers.

That makes more sense now.
Thanks guys.
