Will this laptop have any issues running Battlefield 2?

1.66GHz Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5500, 2GB RAM, 200GB HD, DVD±RW, 17.0" WXGA HD Display, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, Webcam, Windows® Vista Home Premium (HP Recertified)

I am not very fond of HP but I need one to run BF2 for my son when he goes into college in a month and I found a great deal on this one. BF2 requires 1.7Ghz processor but I figured the core two even at 1.66Ghz should work. Will it?

Thanks for the quick reply RBW. :D Any opinion on the reliability of the HP?

Haven't bought an HP in like... never. I'd assume it'd be reliable, but more than likely as with any retailer you're going to have all kinds of stupid **** pre-installed.

I've never owned one but I've heard of compatability problems and such. Thanks for the info RWB :smiles:

I have a Lenovo 300 N100 07682cu, it is fairly close to that one in specs, except it has a 1.83 GHz core duo. It runs BF2 just fine on mid to high settings

Well I think I will take advantage of the info you both left me and make the purchase of $995. Not a bad price I think.

Is that a laptop? If so, yeah not too shabby. Never realized they made 200GB drives for laptops yet.

Looks like a nice system

BF2 will run fine on that system. It is a step above my old DV8000t graphic wise, and it ran BF2 okay in full screen mode...

heh heh heh...and I'll be the happy owner...soon.

I've heard through the grapevine that this laptop in particular (when graphics are set on High of course) allow the view to see a view distance of 600 meters.

I hope that's fairly accurate. Sniping in BF2 is great...but hindered by one's graphic capabilities. View distance for sniping is a must, and for flying would be great... my $0.02.

IIRC you can always manually edit a file to allow you to see however far you want, some call it a "hack" I call it fixing the bull****.

Sledge knows BF2 on laptops. We pwned at the LAN, his machine was pinging fine right along with my desktop. :-)
