Hey all,

Started to get alot of annoying pop-ups and adds opening themselves on my pc. Tried alot of different spyware remove software but none solved the problem. Came across this site when one of the programs told me that Winlogon.exe might be a trojan, and doing a seach for it showed up a thread from this site.

Anyway, after readings a few of the threads here I thought i better stop risking my pc and get a Anti-virus and Firewall put on. (The ones that came with the pc don't do a good job at all!)

So i did a AVG scan and found 20+ Virus/trojans removed, and installed Comodo Firewall. I Also did the "Do this before posting" before i did the HJT log.

Now just wanting to know if my system if free from Spyware/malware.

I have also Attached The Panda AcitiveScan Report and Kaspersky as it wont let me post it because it has links in it.

Thanks,

Hi -x-1stG3ar and welcome to icrontic Spyware & Virus Removal

Please do the following...

Step 1: Rename HijackThis
There is probably an infection which is hiding part of the HijackThis log because it's called hijackthis.exe.
Please rename hijackthis.exe to scanner.exe
Right-click on HijackThis.exe & select Rename to scanner.exe

Step 2: Download and Run: VundoFix
Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txtNote: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Step 3: Download and Run ComboFix

Download this file from either of the two below listed places :
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
Then double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next replyNote: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Please, post these logs:
C:\Vundofix.txt
a fresh HjT log
C:\ComboFix.txt

Hi -x-1stG3ar
how is your system running now?

Step 1
Run HijackThis
Click on the Scan button
Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E70000E2-2569-4260-9897-2FF74A1245C6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyx - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: qomkhif - qomkhif.dll (file missing

Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
Click on the "Fix Checked" button
When completed, close the application.

Step 2
Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\clysrxgj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddcyx.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfsync02.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lhidcwyr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\iun6002.exe

Folder::
C:\VundoFix Backups

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\ddcyx]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\qomkhif]

Save this as "CFScript"
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScript.gif
Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe
This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot)

Step 3
Please download and install Superantispyware here (http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE)
* Load SUPERAntiSpyware and click the Check for Updates button.
* Once the update has finished, exit SUPERAntiSpyware.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT open any other windows or programs while SUPERAntiSpyware is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process.

* Open SUPERAntiSpyware and click the Scan your Computer button.
* Check Perform Complete Scan and then click Next.
* SUPERAntiSpyware will now scan your computer and when it’s finished it will list all the infections it has found.
* Make sure that they all have a check next to them, and then click Next.
* Click Finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
* It could be possible that it will ask you to reboot your computer in order to delete some files after reboot.
* I'll need a log afterwards of what has been found.
* To get the log, click Preferences and then click the Statistics/Logs tab. Click the dated log and press View Log and a text file will appear.

Please post Combofix.txt SUPERAntiSpyware. log and a fresh HJT log

Hi -x-1stG3ar
Good Work!
your comp looks clean!

Please do the following...

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. A malicious site could render Java content under older, vulnerable versions of Sun's software if the user has not removed them. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 2 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp) and save it to your desktop.
Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2...allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version. Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.
You can find instructions on how to enable and reenable system restore here:
Managing Windows Millenium System Restore (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial63.html)
or
Windows XP System Restore Guide (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial56.html)Reenable system restore with instructions from tutorial above

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:
Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic405.html)

Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
Understanding and Using Firewalls (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial60.html)
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com (http://www.windowsupdate.com) regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/?showtutorial=48)
Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Instructions for - Spybot S & D and Ad-aware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/?showtutorial=43)
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial49.html)
Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
Here are some additional utilities that will enhance your safety

IE/Spyad (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm) <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
MVPS Hosts file (http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm) <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer

Popup and spyware free. awsome!!

2 quick questions...

1/ Should Spybot search and destroy be run in the background? The Above post says it gives realtime protection. I know SuperSpyware loads on start up, and i assume the others (adware, spywayre blaster, spybot) i should run regular scans to keep the computer clean?

2/ With Comodo BOclean, can that program cause the Net to slow down? Reason im asking is that now the net is playing up (ie sometimes slow load times, sometimes it was say "www.blahblah.com cannot be be displayed" (or whatever it says when u try to view a page when your not connected)
Then pressing refresh fixes it and loads the page.
I have Comodo Firewall and Comodo BOClean. Maybe a bad setting? Just thought id quickly check here before searching for the problem elsewhere.

thanks!

In thead about Slow computer fixing, it says to run winsock if you get no connectivity or "Page cannot be displayed", which could occur when Vindo and spyware programs remove spyware/viruses.

Ive been getting the "Page cannot be displayed" after i got rid of the tone of spyware off my pc, could that be whats happening with me? I was going to run Winsock, but the backup funciton doesnt work for me, keep getting errors, so i dont want risk it incase something goes wrong!
