When i try to install boot magic it says that it cant install because there are no visible fat or fat32 primary partitions on the first hard disk
i have used partition magic to create a partition so i can install a second copy of xp on the comp but next to the partition i made it says logical
what do i have to do to make this all work?

First off, any partitions that you create for OSs should be primary partitions. You can have more than one primary partition. Also, it's true, Boot Magic does require a FAT32 partition to store the boot info. Create yet a third primary partition, very small (200 meg or less). Boot magic will use that.
Hope that helps. And if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

Create yet a third primary partitionWhen you created that third partition, did you format it in FAT32? If not, you are back at square one.
