I have been using this awesome ASUS laptop for awhile now and have ran into my first error. From what I can tell this just started happening out of the blue, as I haven't installed any new programs, games or drivers for a month or so.

The Issue:

When I start the laptop from the time i hit the power button the windows logo and boot up logo are showing at 640 x 480 and than when it gets into windows the desktop is showing at 640 x 480 until all the programs start running and than it jumps to the 1680 x 1050 res it should be at.

I have tried:

removing all the Nvidia drivers from the system and installing the fresh drivers form ASUS. I have tried all my 3rd party drivers etc... and still get the same issues. It is like Vista is putting the graphic drivers last on the list to look at. I know PC's but this is an issue that is making me scratch my head.

If anyone has an idea why this is happening let me know... as far as I can tell the system is running great and nothing is wrong with the card, runs 3Dmark 05 & 06 fine and plays games without a hitch, leading me to think it is a windows issue not initializing properly.

I reset the msconfig file to boot normally and it adjusted the screen size to normal when it gets into windows, but boot up is still showing in 640 x 480 :(

If the mighty sledge can't figure out a video-related problem, there is no hope for the modern world. Lord help us all! :hair:

LOL!

Well I don't know if it is the ASUS bios or what... I am going to upgrade to the newest one now and see if that adjusts anything. Just not sure what would make this happen.

Asus does a very good job with their BIOS updates. If that doesn't provide the fix, I would guess there is something wrong with your computer's Windows DX~ files. "Guess" is the operative word here.

I had restarted the system like 50 times before thanYeah, just like the WWII aerial bomb or artillery shell found in the Geerman farmer's field 60 years later. Just one, just one more turn and the old fuze is armed!

Im not sure for nvidia cards but when I had this problem with an ATI card I use a inf modifier (DH mobility modder).
