When February of 2008 rolls by, it will mark the second anniversary of the Cell CPU's official unveiling. As a ramp-up to this event, Sony has effectively gutted their Playstation 3, removed any of the gaming hardware, and stuffed it in a 1U box. While IBM has gained lucrative traction in performing similar feats, Sony has, until now, done nothing in the enterprise market with their math-loving chips.
The Cell-powered rendering boxen, running Side Effect Software kit, will be on display at SIGGRAPH this week with NVIDIA in tow.
