There are some definite incentives for the industry to move towards solid state hard drives (http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/08/13/flash_based_hard_drives_cometh/index.html). They will be noticeable faster, they will utilize less power, and they are much more resilient to shock and vibration. Sounds great to me! Now what about the cons?
That was a damned good read, I really want one now... I don't care about the write times too much, it's not like they are bad, just slightly slower and I don't plan on using 32GB drives for fileserver use anyways so all the other benefits make this one hell of a buy if you can afford it. The power consumption could really help out the laptop's battery life from the looks fo things.

Size is the big issue- and with Vista being able to take up to half of the drive with its footprint, I wouldn't use it for a boot drive either ... especially at current prices.
But they will get bigger and cheaper ... and likely faster.
