Getting firefox to view over port 6000

I can't seem to change a port on my NAS server which I can log into remotely over port 6000, I've been having to switch to Internet Explorer to do this, or Opera. Opera has gotten annoying so I am back to using FF again, besides a certain area of the NAS server only works in IE so far and I would like to see if it works in FF as well at least.

Anyways, is there a way I can get FF to let me view something over port 6000? Or maybe if I can switch the ports through my router? I dunno if port triggering/forwarding would work for this to change port 6000 traffic from the NAS server to 9090 traffic externally perhaps? It hasn't worked for me yet though, but maybe I am doing it wrong.

Depending on your router you can do a port redirect so that it listens on one port externally and transfers that to another port internally. As for why FireFox isn't allowing you to use port 6000 not sure unless it's some reserved port in FireFox.

Annoyingly, the only way to stop firefox automatically banning certain ports is to add a string to about:config.

Open a new tab in firefox and enter about:config in the address. Now, right click on the screen that opens and select 'new string'. Call it 'network.security.ports.banned.override'. Enter a comma seperated list of the ports you want to be able to access into the string.
