What are these 'lights'?

I was sat outside the other night and it was raining. I thought I'd try and take some pics of the rain. I took about 8 and most of them have these lights on them. The round 'orb' like things are, I presume, rain drops but what are the white comet looking things? There are big ones and small ones and the motion blur suggests they are going upwards. The camera was still as there is no blur on anything else. The grey swirly stuff is I think cigarette smoke. What are the white comet looking things?

You flash is reflecting off of the raindrops. The blur is going down because the flash was fading in intensity as the raindrop was falling. A flash doesn't turn back off nearly as fast as it turns on, so you don't have streaks above the raindrops.
