View Full Version : Windows ME Taskbar buttons not visible

I have a customer that is using Windows ME ( bleh, I know).

When I open up a program, the button for that program that is supposed to show up on the taskbar, doesn't. And if I minimized the thing it disappears and the only way to get it back is to do an Alt+Tab.

Has anyone experienced this before.
Or can someone do a better google search than I did to see if someone else has had this problem.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Sounds like spyware or a virus causing some strange behaviour.

Sounds like this. (http://forums.techguy.org/t100166/s49b6012a49a2b50020b83e4d76bce31f.html) (3rd post down...)

Isn't there an option to hide the taskbar?

I HAVE YOUR ANSWER :Rocker: Click Here! (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.friendgreet.worm.html)

ok, it sounds like you've got ( or have had ) the pseudo trojan.
This gets into ur comuter in the form of a ' FreindGreeting '
So if you've had any socalled Greeting Cards or Friend Cards they are probably how you got it. The Trojan will send the same message to all your address book so warn them!
