Wireless Gone Awry

Someone messed with my wireless set up (I'm not sure what they did) and now I can't get it to function anymore.

I have a Westell modem/router. It has a ethernet cord connected to my desktop computer and a regular phone cord connected to the phone jack on the wall.

When I turn on my desktop, it tells me I have a "Local Area Connection" of 100.0 Mbps. The internet works fine. However, as soon as I try to use wireless (with my laptop) it does not work. It tells me I am connected to Wireless with a signal strength of excellent, but I am unable to get internet.

I attempted to put in my password (or what I THOUGHT my password was) but it told me it was wrong:

Please help me figure out what's wrong here!

Sorry Kinkajou, I've been out of town quite a bit. I'm guessing someone reset your password and you'll have to set your wireless settings all over again. You need a manual for that Westell router, or you might just be able to go into the gateway's IP address and find the settings yourself.

When you are connected with a cable, go to Run... then type cmd /k ipconfig, then hit enter. Scroll down and find the gateway address. It will probably end in a 1. Then just open a browser and type that address in....for example it might be 192.168.1.1. Type that in with no www nonsense or anything else. It should take you into the Westell and you can adjust your wireless settings.

A neighbor in your area has a great scene of humor and locked you out of your own ap, Be glad they didn't brick it.

Hold down the reset button for 30 seconds this will reset you to factory defaults.

Then change the administrative password and set a wpa2 aes key.
