FINALLY... a couple weeks ago I had found my old monster.com account, decided to update it. And now for the past week I've been getting calls while I sleep about job offers, mostly from 3rd party folks. BTW I sleep during the day this month which is why they call me while sleeping.

Anyways, today I heard an almost perfect job offer which I was gonna pounce on, great pay and just basic web design stuff, mostly photoshop work though for an airliner company doing AA work(whatever AA is). But then they had to go mention that it was only a 6 month contract job with a likely possibility of extension. DOH! I cannot afford that, I have too much debt and I require a stable income.

It's a similar story for the other job offers, some others have been helpdesk which I am not wanting of course. Contract work sucks!

At the least I told the guy if they have any full time jobs to call me back... he said they get many offers and will make sure I get a call. Guess they like my resume

Hey hey. Keep at it. You'll eventually find what you want.

Good news, RWB. I'm afraid of contract work too. Hopefully something permanent comes along soon.

I noticed I got a considerable amount of contract job offers when I listed my resume on Monster. They'd sound great, and I'd love to give one a try, but I need that stability and assurance that I'm going to have a job still in 6 months.

Don't worry though, you'll get a good hit. :)

What I find great is that I am not begging for crap, I am content with my job for the time being while I work some minor gigs here and there to build a portfolio and eventually actually building my own website has it's own appeal. I need to stop being so picky, I am my own worst client.

But it's great that I can be frank with these folks and not try to persuade them to hire me like before when I had to no job fresh out of college. That kind of crap led me back to working crap jobs, ie porter at a dealership after a $50K+ degree(living expenses and such) so I gave up after I couldn't find jack. I had a monster.com account then as well but got no bites, not even when I went to them directly so many times. Sucked so bad, and hurt too, lost all care for Art with the exception of the occasional spur of the moment thing.

I was doing contract work for IBM and Honeywell while I lived in Tucson.

The pay scale was nice, but he benefits suck..

If I was on a contract long enough to qualify for benefits, they were priced beyond ludicrous...

While employed by Manpower Professional, working for IBM, I was making $32-$36/hr, but the health care plan offered to me after 90 days was over $450/mo!:(
