Well I purchased some Tea last week which was suppose to be 80 tea bags... I was sent 480 Tea bags. Now this stuff has a shelf life of about 6 months and I don't think I will be drinking 10 cups of tea per day.
So I am selling each bag for $7.00 which includes shipping & I have 8 bags for sale :)
Also the company I purchased it from told me to keep the extras... how sweet is that? still cost an arm and a leg to get it from the UK :)

Warning only.
What happens to tea past it's shelf life? Does it last longer left in its airtight packaging?

Unsure... the package has a date stamp on the side saying best if used by...
I never really thought of tea as something that expires... When I'm running out of Twinnings Earl Grey, I buy more, but I just dump the new bags into the tin I keep them in... I never really thought about the fact that I never actually hit the bottom of the tin, so the ones at the bottom have been sitting there for 6-7 years now :o

Tea is a plant. Even though it is dried, it's like a bag of chips or any other dried vegetable - it goes stale. It oxidizes. After a week or so, if not kept in an airtight container, the tea is "stale".
Keep it in a pure nitrogen atmosphere for optimal flavour.

Keep it in a pure nitrogen atmosphere for optimal flavour. So, I should put some in a race tire, since we fill those with Nitrogen? :D :p
I can see it now.... The latest, greatest, tea "Vault" complete with Nitrogen tank for purging, after you endulge in a cuppa.
But, what does being 'stale' actually do to the tea? Does it change how it brews? the flavor it creates? squeeze ratios?

It's like anything that goes stale or passes it's shelf life. It just doesn't taste as good and I suppose it won't give a strong brew.

the same thing that happens to any food that goes stale...... It just... "goes stale"... it tastes bad :-/ at least, much worse than it could taste.

Exhibit A: Tetley British Blend comes in an open box with 80 bags. Are you suggesting they expect you to drink 80 bags in 7 days, or that they intend for your tea to taste terrible by the time you finish it? There is no difference between the last bag in one box and the first bag in a fresh box.

Okay, see - there's your problem: You don't put garlic in your tea! That's no good!

Put me down for one, Matt. PM me your paypal address or if you prefer a postal money order, your address.
Mr. Suspect and the Mr. Transformer say that this also makes excellent iced tea, which I am partial to. :D

This is funny when you first read it due to a single tea-bag being referred to as a "bag". Consequently it sounds like you're selling each individual tea-bag for $7 each ;)
