iPhone update - good and bad

Apple breaks unlocked phones with its latest update (<a href="http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/09/28/apple-starts-killing-unlocked" target="_blank">and some that weren't unlocked</a>). <a href="http://daringfireball.net/2007/09/new_iphone_111_features" target="_blank">Some new features</a> are added too.

I did the update last night and somehow the update failed and my iphone was stuck in recovery mode. I had to do an entire restore of the iphone! Luckily I had a fresh backup so I didn't lose anything, but that would have been bad. I didn't have any non-standard apple things on it either..
