View Full Version : Now here is something you don't see everyday !
A friend came in from out of town today so he and I went up to Longhorn for a steak dinner. About 10 minutes into the meal my wife calls and says "what are you doing" I said "Eating a salad, what are you doing" She says...Watching a Hot air ballon land in our back yard. I said "No Sh!t"
The Remax Chase van had pulled into the driveway and rang the bell to ask permission to land in our yard. It was getting late and they had run out of wind. So they just kinda hung out above the yard until they got the OK to set down. Most of the neighborhood came to help. They had it down and packed up in about 30 min. AND I MISSED IT !!

Fun. Ballooning is awesome. A good friend of mine had one and I used to crew for him often. More often than not it was driving in the chase vehicle and, but I got to go up for a flight a time or two! It's the most amazing way to travel. Sadly, he died in a helicopter accident and I've been unable to do any since.

My vision of "Oh, a hot air ballon landed in my back yard" and the reality from the pics, are miles apart. Let the font color let you know what I'm thinking...

It really is a great yard. I don't even mind cutting the 2 acres of grass, It's my get away quiet time. Behind the treeline is another couple hundred acres of parkland. All sorts of critters , deer, fox , turkey and coyote just wander through the yard. Kind a cool hearing the coyote howling at night. We could have a hell of a LAN Party here !!

A hot air balloon landed in our backyard when I was younger. They let us kids run inside of it.

Our dog would LOVE your back yard....
...here in SoCal our yard is so small, she can't reach full-doggie-cruising speed when we play fetch.......:eek:
...should have said they could land in your yard, only if they gave you a ride the next time they went up...

Well we don't race our mowers( I have a 61" Scag )

But we do race around on our quads and dirtbikes. ( Yamaha 350 Warrior )

My dog loves to chase the quad..I swear she can go like 30mph !
We can also shoot at 100 yards. Have huge Firework displays and a couple of buddies come here to hit some balls instead of going to the driving range. ( Your allowed to drink beer here ! )

That's pretty cool to have a hot air balloon land in your yard. :)
I agree with everyone else -- very nice yard!! Made me start mowing mine today. About 3-4 acres of my "front yard" haven't been mowed at all this year :eek: and hopefully by sundown tomorrow, it will all be mowed.
This is what it looked like April of last year. Hasn't all been cut at the same time since due to travel and laziness. ;)
