Not everyone needs a bajillion watts these days, and that's where Corsair's <a href="http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1160&pageID=3884" target="_blank">VX450w PSU</a> comes in.

Its price and features are comparable to the PCP&C Silencer 470, but that's about it. Looking at other reviews, it seems the Corsair outperforms the Silencer 470. And for OCZ branded stuff, I don't think they have any current models that are sub-600W.

Seems decent.

I run highly overclocked dual core CPU computers at full load with PSUs as 'small' as 430W. And those dual core CPUs are power hungry Presler core Intels! I recognize that SLI machines equipped with two VERY power hungry current generation video cards need a lot of power, but outside of dual video use, quality PSUs below 500 watts will almost always have power to spare.

Yeah, I just don't see the need for a beastly PSU unless you're running (a) beastly video card(s).

Most people don't realize that you want to run a PSU at 75-85% of its rating. This is where it was designed to operate and you will have the best efficiency and stability.
