I got an e-mail out of the blue the other day regarding the DRAM Antitrust Lawsuit settlement.

I'm wondering if it's legit. Does anyone know details on this?

The website is:
http://www.dramantitrustsettlement.com

And it looks just like all the other class-action lawsuit websites I've seen where the class members get a couple bucks each and the lawfirm walks away with hojillions.

I'd go with scam if you got an email out of the blue. They don't solicit new people to join the lawsuit, especially after a supposed judgment has been made. There's almost always an exclusion date, after which no other people can join the lawsuit. I'm sure if it were legit, you'd be past that date by now, so it begs the questions: Why contact you? How do they know you've ever bought any? Where did they get your email address? Its probably an identity theft group hoping to get you to cough up address, social, etc etc to 'join the suit.'

My union is suing the city over a host of FLSA violations. I was never called or emailed out of the blue. They had people explain what it was and if we were interested we picked up the info. The closeout date is rapidly approaching. Granted its not a class action suit, I'm just saying, it looks fishy to me.

***Edited to add they have you sending information to a P.O. Box...a bigshot lawfirm thats mounting a lawsuit netting a 300 million dollar settlement doesn't have a corporate office to send your mail to? Scammy scamerson. ***

I got the same e-mail and it does look legit.
I saw news of the lawsuit on TV here.
I think they send out to all the e-mail addresses from the sellers list.
Then again.. It is a P.O. box address....could be scam....What do I know.....
It's a few miles away from me maybe 50.

I googled Rust Consulting, Inc. and it seems they are legit.
They do class action lawsuits and settlements all over the country.
They did a cd lawsuit not long ago.
Thing is - What are we as consumers going to get out of the lawsuit? $10 per complainant? $20 at most? For signing off any further action against the companies. Even if they ripped you for 3-4 hundred dollars extra on the ram you bought. I know through that period of time I bought at least $500 to $600 or more worth of ram for 8-9 different pc's.

I got physical letters from them twice, but each one just advised me to keep waiting. I can't imagine that I'd be due very much money from the settlement, so I'm not really concerned about it. Plus, I'm sure all of my purchase receipts are long gone.

As a last resort, find a number and call them up and see what the story is. If its hokey you'll be able to tell, if all is well, then do what ya will.

I've been filling out the forms for this for what seems like years now, hoping to get maybe a coupon or something out of it. Lawsuit is over any DRAM sold between 1999-2002, which pretty much includes everyone who builds their own! I just got another letter asking for documentation of ownership/proof of purchase, which is reasonable I guess. BUT WHO KEEPS PC RECEIPTS FOR 5-10 YEARS! Bastards, I'll get nothing and like it.
