As most of the staff has known I have been working on getting a new job for the last 8 months. After 5 years of 3D & 11 years or architecture I can officially say I am done. I have been working hard towards something in the gaming field and a set of doors have finally opened.
I will be managing one of the nation’s largest LAN centers sporting 200 high end PC's and 80+ Xbox 360's. My store will open in early 2008 before spring break. In the mean time I will be in training at our corporate store in Mission Viejo.
These are older images of the systems we were running 5 months ago... but you can get the idea of how it looks :) the new setups have 22" LCD's and some sweet Intel C2D's and Nvidia 8800 GPU's. The 360’s are all running on 42” 1080p LCD’s also :)

I hope it goes well for you! I'm sure you'll make them even more profitable.
The pictures: OMG, it's the BORG collective ship! Please tell me the business is not shaped like a cube with lots of plumbing! :sad2:

I am already trying to do that :) but in our company layout when a machine isn't in use it gets shut down to save on power. During the week about 1/2 the PC's are offline. during the weekend they are all running games at full speed:)

I am already trying to do that (grin) but in our company layout when a machine isn't in use it gets shut down to save on power.Makes sense. I would imagine the power is a large component of the overhead of running such a business.

what kind of ventilation system are they using? that seems like a lot of heat. Cool job btw.

We have 25' ceilings so all the heat rises and isn't a problem... just your standard retail center air system :)

I'm intrigued, I've never seen anything like that. Do you do strictly lans or can some kid come in and pay an hourly rate to use the computers? How much is per hour if that's possible?
Congrats either way, looks like an interesting job.
