A loan of a Linksys type WPC54G card has shown that the 3Com card in my wife's laptop was cuffed and was the cause of her grief (and correspondingly mine :() at the lack of internet/email connection !

However this card seems to be far less sensitive than the 3Com as it is showing a low signal strength and regularly drops out or fails to connect at all. The 3Com card before it died was always reliable. There is sufficient signal from the router as my son's PC is another 4m further away in direct line from the router and I've had no complaints from him.

Can someone give me a recommendation please of a card that has shown to have good sensitivity - or equally are there any that one should specifically avoid ?

Many thanks

Rob

please pardon the shill above me.

At any rate, I've always had good luck with d-link wireless cards. I can't recommend a specific model, since I've been out of the mobile wireless loop for a couple of years, but at least I can vouch for the brand.

My d-link was very reliable. I can't comment on its sensitivity, but the connections were solid.
