It just showed up today, but on the top of where the heat pipes come out it looks like it is almost tarnished with a green substance that doesn't come off on my fingernail. Is this normal? Or do I have a bad heatsink.

It probably IS tarnish. Take some copper polish to it and see if it cleans up. If not, send it back and keep the copper polish because you'll need it for those sinks down the road anyhow.

That's a huge releif. I though after waiting so long that I was going to have to send it back.
