Run program on Network Startup

My school just gave me permission to use the school laptops for Robotics, they gave me 10 laptops for about 30 people (!), and they're atleast 2 years old. Anyway, we'll have to do with them until we get better laptops so here goes. I need each laptop to open a certain program as soon as a user logs on. I can't get the school techies to install it on the WHOLE network, so I need a way to do this on just these 10 computers, but when anyone logs on. I asked the techies and they say it's not possible. So is it possible? I'm pretty sure it is so...

According to the techies, the school has Norton Ghost, so the computers reset to their original state without any changes each time they restart. BTW, the two files I need to run are an .exe file and a .txt file. They don't know how to do either...

Connect them to a domain, and configure a login script for those ten computers.

If they don't think it can be done, then probably not. Login scripts would be in the "WELCOME TO CONTROLLING DOMAINS!!111one" chapter numero uno of networking for dummies.

what he means is a program called "Deep Freeze", ask them to unfreeze them while you need to install them, if they do this, you can install the programs so they dont get erased every time the pc boots.

also if they use one Harddrive image for all the machines, give them a good ol' slap for me!

me and broady81 have had many pleasures with deep freeze, including our lecturer comming into our school, then realising we need to install java, so we install it and then the PC needs to reboot, endless cycle.

2 options.

1st Option) Get them to add the two programs into the startup folder for all users for those machines in the ghost image.

2nd Option) If the computers do log onto a domain then you can add those programs as part of the logon script for that domain. Though you couldn't do that. It'd have to be done by whoever is the admin for that domain.

Well when I log on, a DOS prompt always comes up giving me info about my network drive, and network printers and such. I'm thinking this has something to do with a logon script? I'll ask them on Tuesday and see what they can do. And yea, it's Deep Freeze, ghost is for something else so I don't know how I got the two mixed up.

Sounds like a logon script to me. They should be able to add in whatever you need to it simply enough. The problem could be if that logon script affects more computers then just the ones you are trying to work with.

Umm, to access deep freez its ctrl alt shift f6 and also if you open cmd on your netowrk then typ edit and hit enter you can see all the drives and the scripts on them with any user access. But you cant edit or load one to that drive.
