View Full Version : WTF is wrong with Apple?

Apple seems to be taking a different tack (http://fakesteve.blogspot.com/2007/12/first-carrot-now-stick.html) in dealing with Apple-related blogs, lately. Namely, a draconian one. See also: ThinkSecret's death (http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/12/20/147255).

They rip off other peoples' ideas, they don't take kindly to being ripped off themselves.

That's sad. He's getting sued for being funny? What a shameful state capitalism has thrust this world into.

Apple did not challenge the ThinkSecret owner's right to free speech. What Apple claimed was that he was soliciting non-disclosure information. Apparently, that is not legal. (I don't know, I don't read any 'Apple' or 'Mac' sites.) Neither Apple nor the ThinkSecret are talking. It's my guess that Apple paid him a decent sum of money to make it go away: ThinkSecret avoided crushing attorney fees and Apple avoided (to some degree) a lot of negative press.

Yeah, gotta watch out for that nasty capitalism....

'cause we all know that socialism, communism, tolitarianism are analogous with free speech, open thinking, fair trade, equal rights, and justice on all.. :wtf:

YAD, maybe what you meant, rather than capitalism run amock, was legal system abused and taken to the extreme: have enough money - bury your opponent in a lawsuit from which he cannot emerge without a battalion of expensive attorneys. Sad, but probably true in this case.

Still though, I haven't read anywhere that Think Secret's owner has denied soliciting proprietary, protected information. I don't think it's at all obvious who would have won in court. Of course, we all root for the David up against the giant, Goliath. Yeah, I do too.

It's sad really, but I for one take it for granted - It's part of life in todays society...

Fake Steve Jobs faked the take down, Apple didn't tell him to do anything.

I'd heard he'd done that before, but I didn't hear about it being true this time, too. Linkage?

Yeah. It's like that y'all. Sorry for any confusion, but it's all a joke. Only it's not really a joke, is it? I mean people actually are getting paid to shut up. For real. Well, Merry Christmas, if you celebrate Christmas. Much love and namaste to all. I honor the place where you and I and the Buddha become one. Peace out. Fight the power. Stop the war.
