View Full Version : cd/dvd driver fault

i am having a problem with my cd/dvd driver. when i try to play a cd or dvd i just get a message saying "blank cd". i know the cd is ok. i know very little about pc's, so any help would be much appreciated, but please can you keep it basic so that i can understand it thanks

I don't know if you still have this problem, but what you can do is check for new drivers for your cd/dvd driver on the manufacture's website. If that does not work, then you should try to re-install the device itself. To do this follow these instructions:

Step 1: Right click on My Computer and select properties
Step 2: Select the Hardware Tab and click Device Manager
Step 3: Click the + next to CD/DVD-ROM Drives
Step 4: Right click and hit uninstall.
Step 5: Reboot your computer
Step 6: Found new hardware program will be displayed

You can either install the drivers that you downloaded or just hit next and let the wizard do it for you.

Step 7: Check the CD/DVD-ROM by following steps 1 though 3 and select proprrties
Step 8: Check bottom of the properties window to see if drive is working properly
Step 9: Report back here
