Has everything been showing fine up until now?
Did you just move this drive into the machine?

Sorry....assuming all knew from past posts....
I just replaced a MB....and had to do a fresh install...
Now I have been doing some diagnostics...unplugging and plugging and i just got a message never seen...
IDE0 no 80 cable or something like that...it was hung for a sec so hit dele to got to bios....so couldnt quote it....I am pullling the backup WD and going to leave it to the side so to speak (actually still in the case...just not hooked)...
Now..I got my Samsung solo on IDE1 and the WD on IDE2....
now SS is showing up as IDE0M and WD is IDE1M....in the bios...

Restarted from bios and now i got that error again...
"IDE0 no 80 conductor cable installed"...HUH?
after a bit it kicks over to the "verifying DMI..."
Then..
"Boot from CD:
"Disk Boot failure, insert system disk and press enter"
If I disconnect the WD all boots fine!
Sooo what does this mean...thinking its me...

1. turn off the computer, unplug it, wait for power to dissipate from the PSU, pull the IDE cable from the motherboard and affected drive, reattach the cable; if same problem
2. put in a different/new IDE cable
3. if problem persists, set drive jumper to Cable Select

for which drive?....because the SS boots fine if the WD isnt in....

Bud, do you have both drives on one cable? That's fine, but in that case, use the procedure I specified above for both drives.

Now..I got my Samsung solo on IDE1 and the WD on IDE2....
now SS is showing up as IDE0M and WD is IDE1M....in the bios...
Nope...I like to have my OS drive the SS...on one and my Data drives on another...the WDs...
So as it stands...The SS is on IDE1 and the WD is on IDE2...
The SS is plugged into the last connector on the ribbon...while the WD is plugged into the first connector on the ribbon...
Knowing that...same advice?

Leo....replace both or just one...if one..then which...and remember...when disconnect the WD altogether and just have the SS in...then the thing boots up no problem!

well i am a little impatient so i just did it on the WD....but......there was NO select option....
Just Master...slave...single...so i put it on single...meaning no jumper...
Boot sequence went through a lot quicker but I saw the "cable message again" but the SS booted...
Thing is the WD drive didnt show....
