DOMINATING!

As poor as Asus boards tend to be, atleast they're screwing the rest of the world over too. Go get'em Asus.

I've heard too much bad stuff about asus boards. If they work for you, fine. I won't buy one.

I seriously am thinking of buying an eeepc. They are so nifty. It would be perfect to take on the go if I needed to take notes. And at the price, how could you say no.

Well, my ASUS board has been a bit of a bitch when it comes to Dual Channel RAM- Apart from that it's been fine, but on the other hand I did go and buy a board that doesn't necessarily support Dual Channel without knowing :P So that's most likely a fault on my part. But there has been an explosion of complains about asus lately- I'm sure they'll sort it out.... eventually....

Seems Asus has made some wise and frugal choices that have put them in an enviable position. (From the viewpoint of the opposition.)
Great reviews on it.
Seems to be a robust little winner. Price is outstanding.
I love that it runs Linux & Open Office!! Take that MS.
MS is even trying to get in on the cash cow so to speak by offering Windows for less than $40 on the systems as an alternative.

As for Asus mobo's.
Although I haven't upgraded to the dual core or quad core systems.
I have setup 4 different model mobo's from Asus.
One T-Bird system and the rest Athlon Xp systems.
They have all been running for 2 - 3 1/2 yrs now without problems.
Even after rebuilding & reseting them up for others as an upgrade to their old pc setups.
One important thing while setting up an Asus mobo is ...
READ THE MANUAL! Every single page... It walks you thoroughly through setup and adjustments on the mobo.

*CAUGH* *RAR* *CAUGH*

I beg to differ.

4 rmas on my one and only board, and still one I accepted with decreased functionality, meaning certain features/ports failed to work and I decided to deal with it rather than waiting for another dead board and $20 wasted for shipping. Oh, yeah, 6+ week turn around on each rma, sounds fun don't it? I do have to point out that other than these issues my board has run for a few years without touching it, and it is a northwood board. But then again, I think I had to rma it to begin with because I touched a supposedly harmless setting. Oh, and one more thing, my board new in box was dead as well, how great considering I spent a grand on my first pile of crap that I was to put together. At least googlegear had a decent turnaround speed. Great experience, wouldn't change a thing. :lilbro:  :werr:

But after all this, I still may buy one. Boards are cheap, finiky, crap, and made and not-tested-ever in china, and we have to deal with this bull crap.

sorry for my rant

I've only ever had problems on one ASUS board I ever owned, but it was bought used. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone complain about ASUS either lol.

Had a 939 board and now im running a p5k deluxe. The p5k is the best board I have owned. Better than my nf7 rev 2 even.

 I have already advised you in this regard my rebellious friend....what are you waiting for:confused:

Honestly I want one as well, if only to play around with it to see it what it is capable of.

they had a bad batch all across got a duff p5k se and p5b hereAnd let's not forget the infamous M2N-32 series. Has there ever been a motherboard with that much negative noise arise from it's users?

But actually, no, I'm not pounding on Asus. My experience with their motherboards has been very positive. The two best motherboards I've had the pleasure of installing and using were the Asus P5WD2 series (early generation Socket 775) and the Abit IC-7 series (Socket 478). If all motherboard models were like those, few people would bother switching brands.

there has been an explosion of complains about Asus latelyYes, there has. In my opinion, I think it's as simple as Asus' rapid growth outpacing their quality control. I don't think Asus will permit the poor dynamic to continue indefinitely. They know there are several other quite competent motherboard makers eager to take away market share from them.
