View Full Version : Baked Potato
This is sort of a stupid question. How do you guys like your baked potatoes? I usually use a microwave, but apparently it will taste better if I use a conventional oven. Also, how do you guys eat it, like what type of stuff do you put on it?
I bake it, cut it in half when baked, core out the potato, toss the skin, and douse it in ketchup.
Hey, if it works for fries and hash browns, it'll work for a baked potato.

Bake it in the oven than take it out and core them, But easy cause you
want to keep the skin whole.
Than take the potatoes inners put them in a bowl and mixed it with
3 tablespoons of sour cream and a 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
If you want you can put bacon bits in this( This is for 4 potatoes )
Than spoon mix back into the skin and put a little cheese on top
and put it back in the oven for 10 -15 minutes to melt the cheese
and you're done.
Enjoy
Oh if you want you can let it cool with the mix in than freeze Just don't
put them back into the oven. Than you can take them out two at a time,
than put some cheese on top heat and enjoy.
Than when I feel lazy I bake them and put sour cheese and butter
on them.
Oh doing potatoes in the microwave you should just boil them
they would taste about the same.

Here's what I do.
Get your potato washed and ready. While it's still wet roll it in some kosher or sea salt (big flake is all that matters, kosher works best) Then wrap that in aluminum foil if you'd like.
Bake it until it is done and then get your potato out. Cut open, add desired amounts of sour cream, butter, cheese (if you like, I don't), salt and pepper to taste and you have a delicious baked potato.

^ Wendy's does have surprisingly good baked potatoes.
But when I prepare them myself I bake them in the oven wrapped in aluminum foil to protect the skin as I am one of those who eats the skin. I top only with sour cream and crushed black pepper, no butter or salt.

I like to nuke my spudz. Don't really like all the work and time going into an oven baked potato, even though it's definitely tastier.
Anyways here's how I do mine:
1. scrub potato under running water 'till all chunks of dirt are washed off.
2. poke holes in the spud using knife or fork (I like to have at least one poke per side)
3. push "baked potato" button on microwave
4. split long ways and mash with fork
5. dribble Italian salad dressing over the potato
5. stuff face mmmffjhmmm...
This was not what I thought the thread would contain.

I like my potatoes boiled 'til soft, then crushed into a paste.
Served best with margarine and either cinnamon/sugar or garlic salt.

I would never have thought of combining cinnamon and sugar with mashed potatoes. That sounds like it could go horribly wrong. How much do you add?
I have a sweet tooth, but the idea of sugar and potatoes just doesn't quite fit.

Hot buttered yams with cinnamon and sugar = delicious..
Never tried it with white boy taters though.

'to taste' :)
I got the idea when I was at a steakhouse one evening, and they brought my mashed potatoes with no butter or margarine. Rather than wait for the server to bring some, I tried using the cinnamon/sugar margarine that was intended for the rolls. It was great, and now I always order my mashed potatoes plain at that restaurant, and use the cinnamon/sugar margarine.
I tried to find some margarine like that at the store, and could not, but adding some cinnamon/sugar to regular margarine is almost as good.
