View Full Version : What is it that I'm not understanding about multipliers?

I've got a TBred-B XP1700+ in my girlfriend's PC that won't OC above an 11.5 multi, but the FSB has a bunch of headroom, so I'm not at the limit of the chip's OC. Unfortunately, the board can't do more than a 180 or so FSB. Is there something about the chips that doesn't allow more than an 11.5 multi, or is it something about this particular chip?

i think u should beable to get 12.5 multi, if i'm not mistaken that the asus unlocks the multi all the way up to 12.5

This same board allowed me to change the multis on my XP2100+ to anything up to 13.5... at any rate, I didn't think the XP1700+ was locked back then? It's a JIUHB DUT3C TBred-B... and I think it's #11 in the batch!

leishi is correct. Something's up with that bios i'm sure. Modded cpu in any way?

Nope, no mods to the CPU at all - oh, and I forgot - the board only started unlocking multis when I updated the BIOS to 1006 and better.

Dammit, use that cpu in your own rig instead.

Do you use the latest bios?

Yeah - it's been running so cool and low voltage at the 2.07 GHz it's at now I was considering switching the XP2100+ into her rig and putting the XP1700+ in my secondary... That way I'll just OC the XP2100+ back to an XP2700+ like I had it set up when that mobo was in the secondary and have done with it. And then I'll see what the little XP1700+ can do in my rig.
I think it's the latest BIOS - it's running BIOS 1007 right now...
