Have spare monitors?

Want to know if you can borrow a rig?

Post about it and coordinate lending here. :)

I may be able to get some spare 15in LCDs if needed.

I'll probably need a monitor. Unless I end up driving, which is unlikely.

I will need a computer since I am flying up without mine. Thanks!!

An LCD would be a lifesaver. I've got a faded CRT circa 1990. It's no problem to bring it but if anyone's got a spare LCD, you would be a savior in my gaming experience.

Kingpin I have a ton of spare 15inch CRTs at my house. They're LCD's but they're not faded. You're call.

Fer shizzle, Bizzle. I knew you had a bunch but wasn't sure if they worked. I, myself, have four that are shot that I haven't bothered to dump. But definitely, that will work.

I have two 15" lcd monitors. They both work, but they're each a bit fuzzy until they get warmed up. If anyone would like me to, I can bring them.

This doesn't apply to the 15" LCD's, but keep in mind you'll have an extra person and luggage in the car on the way home. ;)

That's why we'll have to rent a car. My car is too small, and I don't trust Sharky's car to make it.

HMMMMM.

I run two 20" widescreeners on my box, I might be convinced to part with one of them for a couple days... unfortunately, they're on VESA mounts, so they'll need to attach to a table, but I'm sure you'll figure that out.

I'm getting way ahead of myself on all this, but let's see where it goes. Is there a handy list of any kind educating those of us new to the experience as to what should be brought on one of these adventures?

Oh hay, look at that, Keebs has one not 3 threads down from me. Do please excuse.

PS, not bringing both monitors. Just bringing one, it would be ridicuhard to try and handle both. So sorries.

I have a crappy monitor for the server. It's not really good enough to let anybody use it for gaming, but for servers, it's fine

I'll be bringing 2 pc's this year. Both can run TF2 rather well. One is mine but the other one is open. I have a 19" LCD for that one...

Black Hawk
12 Jun 2008, 06:42 AM
I'll take if it's still open.

QCH2002

It's a PIII 1 GHz with 386 MB of PC133 RAM. nVidia GeForce 2MX GPU and a 300 watt PSU. It's all your's BH!!! ;D

Gargoyle
12 Jun 2008, 07:32 PM
I may be able to scrounge up a rig for the desperate. It'd be a Socket A of some kind (circa 2ghz) and 512mb or 768mb RAM. What I lack is a decent vid card. If someone's got a spare AGP card, that'd be good.

I have a 17" flat CRT that CB gave me. It has a ghosted image that looks like a BIOS screen on it, but I don't think it'd be visible while gaming. You have to actually look for it while it's just sitting at the desktop.

I have a ATI 9800 Pro card that would work, or I can bring a 3rd PC. 2800+ with 1 GB ram and the ATI 9800 pro.

RyderOCZ
12 Jun 2008, 09:49 PM
I have 2GB of DDR that will be accompanying me, so if we have a decent CPU/Vid card.. we can get to 2GB to beef up gaming :)

Or you could lend me the third PC which is what I hope you originally meant when you said you were bringing a second PC. :D

If you want to bring the whole rig, don't let me stop you. But if not, the 9800 Pro + Ryder's 2gb DDR would make it a fine rig for the games we'll be playing.

I remembered I've got a GeForce FX 5200 lying around that I could bring, but it hasn't been tested. Do you think it could run TF2, at 1024x768 at least? I don't get the impression it's a super-taxing game, but then again my usual graphics card is much better.

Crazy Joe
13 Jun 2008, 01:45 AM
Well I didn't claim any pc as people posted that they're bringing one but I did post early on in this thread that I won't be bringing my pc. I will be bringing my games though so if I have a pc that can handle any of them i'll play. Really though if I can have one to play an ocassional game of TF2 I'll be good to go.

QCH2002

OK... PC #2 and #3 will be open to whoever wants to use them... Blackhawk you have one, Garg and Joe can fight for #3. Really, unless you guys are on the same team, you can share one of the 2 free pc's.

16 Jun 2008, 03:39 AM
Well it looks like there will be an extra gaming pc/monitor available since NiGHTS is not able to make the LAN anymore, unless Ryder has already given dibs to someone else... which is entirely possible :P

Black Hawk
16 Jun 2008, 03:47 AM
I may not need a whole computer. I'm gonna see if I can buy a Shuttle barebone, have them ship it to Detroit and take my computer parts with me on the plane. I will need a monitor.

RyderOCZ
16 Jun 2008, 04:18 AM
Blackhawk,

IF Nights is not coming, then that PC is yours, if you choose not to buy/bring whatever. Even if you do, that PC is already assembled, whatever.

You can Shorty can share, if your not in the same tournaments, too :)

I'll tentatively call dibs on a 17" CRT, but if anyone shows up with a nicer monitor to spare that'd be awesome. You guys are great :D.

Just realized i'm gonna need some sort of thermal compound. I'm sure it'll be hard to come by...Doesn't Ryder normally bring like 5 lb of OCZ grease? I still have some from last time; I keep it in my doc kit next to the toothpaste. I've used it more than once; you never know when you might need to reseat someone's CPU.

I'm thinking about just bringing my laptop and not worrying about spare PCs. Is there really any demand for another rig, or does everybody have one now?

QCH2002
18 Jun 2008, 05:33 AM
Good because I could not even start the third PC... I have one spare that is ready for action... Anyone that needs one can share. It's rather nice....

AMD 3000+
1.0 GB PC3200
ATI 9800 Pro (256-bit)
300 GB HD
Fresh Install of Vista.....

Joking... WinXP Pro SP3.
