Just figured I'd start a thread for everyone to check in who's being affected by the first really big storm of the winter season.

Here in Portsmouth, NH it's been snowing on and off since last night at about 2am. The snow has accumulated a bit, but not much, probably only 2-3", not nearly as much as a lot of other places. The weather men are predicting that this storm is looping around and gonna come back to hit us hard and is expecting total snowfall in the Southern NH area to be 18-24", it just started snowing real hard in Worcester, MA and apparently it's moving its way up? How are the other snowbound S-Mer's doing?

*PS: We need no wise-ass replies from all the people in FL, etc who aren't having to bust out their snowblowers, we all know you're handling this storm pretty well :D

Currently it's 27F, feels like 13F. There's a blizzard warning in effect until later tonight. The snow is coming down lightly now and we're expected to just have a few flurries tomorrow. The killer is the wind, making everything feel just downright freezing and kicking up snow everywhere.

So far we've seen just a few flurries. 39*F this morning and thought I was freezing. :D

Though i'm not an american i won't miss a chance to rant about the weather since the climate in sweden is similar to that of northern us, southern canada.

So far only some snow a few weeks ago, then temperatures rose to just above 0c but sank below today again. Though i'm hoping for a white christmas i'll be alot happier if the snow came on the 24th and left sometimes around the 26th saving me from months of snow removal. I'll stop ranting for awhile. It's late so i'll ponder some more ranting till the morning.

Disappointing here in Charlottesville (I like snow). We got 4-5 inches Thursday night through Friday morning. They were calling for an additional 6-10" today but we didn't get jack.

My dogs LOVE jumping through snow banks. :p

seems Virginia is in the center of the Vinn diagram of natural disasters, we get floods, hurricanes, blizzards, drouts, heatwaves, tornados, we had an earthquake, no frests fires or tsunami's though

You're too close to the coast. Get up in the mountains and you'll see some.

Well if we had to bust out snowblowers, would first have to bring them in from up north. BUT. northern part of Florida went down to near freeziung last night, some folks had to protect orchards that grow things like Oranges and Grapefruit that are maturing this time of year so you folks would have soem to eat-- the tropical storm we had sucked cold air down from up north, and is expected to happen again late in week.

Lived up north (Michiagn, and in Illinois north of Chicago) adn remember walking through snow up to hips to school when silly school board could not run busses but did NOT cancel school for a few days until it became obvious busses would not be able to navigate for a WEEK), but cold has consequences all over, and some spread (more expensive and lower quality citrus fruit and juice, as it matures fully in December and January for some varieties). High in 60's here, and jokes about snow here, but that was north of here and that is one reason I like Florida south of Tampa. Problem on east coast is a tropical storm moving in, on west coast a Red Flag fire hazard wanring was issued for half of west coast of Florida due to less rain maiiung things dry and very low humidity and some winds. In winter, we get brush fires, you get snow and fewer brush fires. Tradeoffs all over.

john-- trying not to be TOO smartassed... :)

We had a few inches of snow here in south jersey. I almost Crashed my truck last night because we have lazy city workers that didnt clear a high traffic side street, fricking morons. I slid right out onto a major highway with a car load of people. They were impressed when I managed to make sure nothing was comming, slid right into the lane I was going into anyway and only tapped the breaks and did some downshifting! I Love my truck being Manual!
