1GB on an HD 3850

Diamond has an HD 3850 graphics card boasting 1GB of RAM. Is it beneficial, or just trying to compensate (http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1401/diamond_radeon_hd_3650_1gb_graphics_card/index.html)?

That would make a really nice card to put into a Home theatre box. Just nothing but HD movies streamed to your plasma screen with an HDMI cable. Mmmmm.
