Yep, I'm the happiest guy in the world now. I wanted my flowmasters put on a.s.a.p and didn't want to wait until next week for a local shop to do it. So me and my uncle went about 1 hour away from where we live and got a muffler shop to put a set of 2 chamber flowmasters on my stang today :)

As soon as they were done, the guy wanted me to be the first to crank her up and hear it. And OMFG I about had to change my boxers when I cranked it up. It sounds soo freakin sweet and deep and loud. Now I have to wait to get a set of longtube headers and I can have my offroad H pipe installed and she will get louder. Just thinking about it makes me want to go drive my car. You boys can hear me coming now when I pull into Detroit in Jan.

Which flowmasters did you get?

I'm actually looking at putting some on the Mercedes, so...

I got the 2 chamber 40 series. They sound very deep on a mustang, at idle its not to loud but has a nice rumble to it. And when you step on it, you can hear them talking to you.

Hmm. I was looking at the 70 series, since they'll just drop into the Mercedes exhaust system...

If they sound good to you then go for it man. You will not regret it once you hear the sound. My dad has flowmasters on his 1500 RAM and I have them now on my stang, both sound awesome.

"Females searching for a potential mate will be driven away by weaker exhaust systems and attracted to car's flowmaster" haha omg that is too funny. I have never heard a honda thar ROARS like a lion, haha, they always sound like bee's to me.

To bad he can only get "a flowmaster" put on, mine has two baby, w00t for true dual exuast.

True dual? Or does the exhaust from the headers go to one tube which then break off into two for your exhaust?

Clutch

True dual baby, all GT's come with true duals. Two pipes from the headers to each muffler, no branching off. I think the f-body's use the Y pipe which isn't true dual though.

But my WS-6 with optional modding does have a 3 3/4" single catback system that exits as 2x 2" pipes. BTW: I DO get 12.87's in the QM. :D

Clutch,
My step-son has a '98 GT that he loves and has The Flowmaster system from the engine back. It does sound nice! Poor guy can't do better than 14.28 in the quarter though. ;)

Funny that article came from where I live. Lets hope the Baron doesn't see it though as he goes to UT. ;)

14.28 isn't bad..heh

I did the 1/8th today and got a 9.5 with a 1.9 60ft. Not spectactular but I'm pretty happy for my tank of a car-truck. :)

and I don't even have true duals yet..

Nice times Rot, keep em up m8. Mt: what mods does your son have to his stang? If you don't have emissions where you live get an o/r H or X pipe and get rid of those cats, add 9 h/p and a lot of sound :) As soon as I get my long tube headers mine are coming off.

I'll dream of the 14's one day :D

Ran the Intrigue through Mosport drag-strip last weekend after installing new air filters, air-intake manifolds (extended them to the grille for ram-air effect), adjusted onboard EFI computer for leaner running and precision-set engine valve timings.

16.09s @ 92 MPH 1/4 mile in a stock 3600 lb curb-weight sedan ain't bad either. :D

His exhaust is the biggest thing he's done. The others are small things like changing the drive pulleys and different plugs, coil and wires. He has the cross tube on his pipes and everything here needs to be EPA for sure. Mine with the cat back system is a special built one and my LS-1 is currently putting out 460H.P./435ft.lbs. torque. I don't recomend anything for your engine that Steeda carries as it is just rebranded vrap for the most part and a giant rip off. Stick with major name parts like Mallory, Accell, Competition Cams (currently a hot pick for stangs), Holley and Offenhauser. The Offy maifolds are great for Ford products where Chevy's do better with Edelbrock. If I can find one I think your car would look real hot and different with one of the 2 piece hoods and engine mounted scoop reminiscent of the Cobra 351's.

well today I got a quote for a 700-R4 transmission, a 3.42 posi rear end, and a true dual exhaust with two 2 chamber flowmasters and 2 high flow cats (emissions..got to stay legal..for now)

looks like it's going to be about 3 grand total

Yeah, only the environment and the air we breathe.

J/K, I would probably run without cats if I could. Actually I used to on my old Camaro since that didn't have to pass emissions.

w00t getting it done tomorrow

no cats :) (had to pay 50 more dollars to get the shop to do it, too)

2 two chamber flowmasters, with cute little bowtie tips..heh

Geeky1
9 Dec 2003, 10:42pm
NO BOWTIE TIPS! You'll turn up on some anti-rice page. Trust me... I've seen it before.

I'm actually contemplating having a custom exhaust made for the Mercedes, just not now. Stupid parents won't let me. But once I turn 18... muahahaha :D

If they say my car is rice, they deseve to go to hell, lol.

Besides, it already has some on it now..and I like them..they are tarnished and all ugly though (bent) so I'm getting some new ones put on.

Geeky1
9 Dec 2003, 10:49pm
Lol. OK... just don't expect me to defend your ass on ant-rice.com (I agree that they're not rice, but saying that on a site that says they are is just asking for trouble) :D

W00t, good news Rot. Get us some pics of it when it is done. As far as getting caught with not cats, it shouldnt be too much, but the shop get s a $10,000 fine if they are caught taking them off.

But she will roar after them bad boys are off there. Geeky, you should go for the custom exhaust, should sound bad ass on the benz.

Oh and Rot "Real men don't wear bowties" heeh j/k nothing but love bro.

Geeky1
9 Dec 2003, 11:57pm
Yeah... it's a 5.6L V8, so it should sound a lot like a 350 Chevy/351 Mustang would with the same exhaust system.

I've listened to the exhaust system @ various points with a mechanics stethsocope, and the classic V8 rumble is there, it's just extremely effectively removed by the pre-cat, cat, resonators, and the muffler.

a custom exhaust would be 3" diameter if I can get custom headers, 2.5" if I can't, but I'll at least switch to the euro-spec headers. The single pre-cat/cat would be replaced by a H-pipe and dual high-flow CARB cats, followed by two Flowmaster 70 series mufflers. Everything would have to be mandrel bent, and stainless steel, so...

We'll see. I've got a few more months, and then I can do what I want with it (I hope).

it's there..I'll try and get a better pic tomorrow (exhaust isn't why I took that particular picture..)

it kinda blends with the tire

Geeky1

Yeah, I see it now. It's almost impossible to see on my monitor, but that could just be because I don't have the brightness/contrast that high.

Got it done today.

WOW!

That's all I can say..these things sound so amazingly awesome.

I thought the thing sounded good before, but now it just sounds mean as hell. Pics to come..digi camera is out of my hands until the holidays..

*waiting for pics*

I know how you feel man. When I turned my car over, after the exhaust was on, I was like "omfg" I wanted to just sit there and rev it all day. Needless to say, I drive around now wit the radio down just to hear her roar down the highway. Nothing like hearing all 8 cyl. scream when you step on it.

I had to move my change out of my change holder because the vibration of the exhaust was making the change rattle, heh
