I need something alot better than the Intel i945. Is there any way I can just buy the laptop express card or whatnot and drop it in?

They should have some suggestions. I had a slightly older Dell laptop running a 7800gtx (also needed a larger power supply, battery, and modified BIOS). It's going to cost you some money if it's possible, but the solutions do work.
